Dubai Municipality, Emirates Transport ink MoU for Geo-Dubai
Signed at Gitex 2019, the agreement aims to establish geospatial infrastructure for projects in Dubai
Dubai Municipality has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Emirates Transport as part of its aim to drive geotechnical technologies for the construction of smart cities in Dubai.
Signed at Gitex Technology Week, which was held at Dubai World Trade Centre on 6-10 October, the MoU aims to promote geospatial infrastructure for Geo-Dubai, and create an updated baseline map for Dubai to be used as a tool for planning, design, and management of development projects.
The agreement was signed by director of Dubai Municapality’s GIS centre, Eng Mariam Obaid Al Muhairi, and director of information systems at Emirates Transport, Mohammed AbdulRahim Baramah.
Commenting on the MoU, Al Muhairi said in a statement: “Dubai Municipality has launched the geo-Dubai infrastructure project, which aims to provide a comprehensive, unified and up-to-date baseline map for the Emirate of Dubai, as well as geospatial systems, to create and update planning maps for the construction sector.
“This will ensure decision makers, investors and people working in this field, can access maps from one source easily and quickly, using the latest geotechnical technologies, which saves time and effort and contributes to the construction of a smart city."
