Starting out as a modest electronics store, Jumbo Group has transformed into a regional conglomerate within an impressively short timeframe. Jumbo Engineering Ltd (JEL), a special business unit of Jumbo Group, was established in 2002 as a multi-disciplinary contracting firm. It has since grown into a major mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) specialist in the UAE.
Having joined the company more than three years ago as its general manager, Masood Raza has played an important role in this growth story. The firm is currently working on projects including the RTA Data Centre in Dubai, and Kizad warehouses Phase 3 and Presidential Flight Hangar 2 in Abu Dhabi.
Raza said: “In the run up to the Expo 2020, the UAE construction business is not entirely dependent on oil. Therefore, we are witnessing that industrial, commercial, and Expo 2020 work is going strong. The biggest opportunity for MEP business is the establishment of sustainability guidelines by the Dubai Municipality and Estidama. Together with Etihad ESCO initiatives, these guidelines have created new opportunities for companies to innovate in green products and solutions.”
