The Zaal family traces its regional roots back to the early 19th century. Founder and chairman of the Al Barari project, Zaal Mohammed Zaal, was educated at the University of Cambridge in the UK, before returning to Dubai to pursue a career in property development.

In 2005, Zaal launched the 170ha Al Barari community. The project includes 189 luxury villas and 34 themed gardens, with more than 16.4km of naturally landscaped lakes, freshwater streams, and waterways.

Commenting on sales, Zaal said: “All projects have been financed – 90% of Seventh Heaven and 70% of Ashjar has been already sold.”

In 2015, the developer announced the launch of 99 luxury villas, called The Nest. Following that, it unveiled Ashjar 2, which will feature 84 additional residences.

Zaal noted: “The Nest’s 55 four- bedroom, family-style rental villas will be completed by January 2017. Ashjar, a collection of 203 homes in three distinct categories spread across 13 low-rise, low-density buildings, will be completed by December 2017.”

The company’s previous launch, Seventh Heaven – a cluster of 157 sky homes, including exclusive duplexes, penthouses, and garden homes – will be completed by June 2017.

Zaal contends that his biggest challenge will be to deliver all three projects before the end of 2017.

In the meantime, he plans to maintain his firm’s efforts within the field of professional development.

“[Al Barari will] ensure that all employees are given internal and external training to keep up to date with the latest skills and trends in the industry,” he said.
