Dr Hamed Al Dhahab
Dr Al Dhahab has been charged with overseeing the transformation of Al Watanyiah United Engineering & Contracting – the company formerly known as NUEC.
The Oman-based business has a 21-year trading history, but it is going through a root-and-branch transformation that has included a new corporate identity, systems and procedures as it shapes itself up for an anticipated growth in infrastructure, tourism and other investment projects in the Sultanate.
Dr Al Dhahab has plenty of business experience having spent the previous seven years as CEO of Oman Polypropylene. He is also chair of the country’s Industrial Innovation Centre and has been a longstanding board member of Oman’s biggest quoted contracting company, Galfar Engineering & Contracting.
He said that the company, which had an order book of around $130m in March, has also agreed several joint ventures with firms where it can see the potential for successful partnerships.
“We will focus on what we can do and where we know we cannot compete, we will not get involved,” he said.
“We have a good credibility in the market and that market is changing. We will do whatever is necessary to contribute to building the country and add value to our stakeholders.”
