Wael Allan, became Hyder’s Regional MD in April 2009, having worked for major engineering and construction companies such as Raytheon Engineers and Constructors, now part of the construction conglomerate URS Corporation.
Allan is a chartered scientist and engineer with more than 20 years’ experience in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and process engineering.
“I have worked in a number of countries, and I moved to the Far East for a while, but being an Arab speaker, I was always very keen to come to this, and I am very grateful to Hyder Consulting for providing me the opportunity to do so,” said Allan.
Now heavily engaged in Qatar, Hyder this year secured two contracts in short succession with Ashghal on the Doha Expressway programme: a $70m contract in April and a $112m contract in June for the 60km-long fifth phase of the network.
Allan commented: “The Expressway Projects is an undertaking of truly global scale and vision, and as a whole consists of 28 projects which require both the delivery of new roads and the upgrading of existing roads to “expressway” standard. Once completed the benefits will stand to further the State of Qatar as it continues its rapid growth.”
