Manasero, who is one of over 13,000 employees working for contractor Dutco Balfour Beatty, makes the list following his triumph in the 2012 Construction Week Awards, where he was named Engineer of the Year.
Quiet and unassuming, Manasero has been involved in some brilliant projects where he skills shine through.
Manasero, who picked up the prize at our Construction Week Qatar event, earned praise from judges, which included senior figures from major contractors as well as representatives from independent organisations.
One judge described Manesero as a well-respected leader, while another noted that he consistently worked above and beyond the call of duty as a well-rounded and dedicated engineer, combining both design and site experience.
When picking up his award, Manesero said: “I’m speechless. It is not the sort of thing I was expecting, considering that all of the other people who were nominated were CEOs, directors and I’m only a humble engineer.”
Manasero’s company had worked on the first phase of the Business Bay canal extension project, which was completed in 2005.
More recently, it completed the $32m pedestrian link between Dubai’s metro system and the Dubai Mall last year, and in December the company won a $40.8m deal to install a people-mover system serving concourse four at Dubai International Airport. The people-moving conveyor is being built by Bombardier.
