Since January New York-born international architect Steven Miller has been the public face of Shapoorji Pallonji Group.
Founded in 1865, by Pallonji Shapoorji Mistry, the 148 year old company is a family business focused on construction, with 12 offices around the globe and 13 in its home-market of India.
Miller will head the company’s aggressive growth plans for its UAE-based operation, where it has operated for eight years.
0n his one meeting with Mr Mistry, Miller recalls: “I really appreciate something he said to me.
“He said: ‘Mr Miller, the one thing that you can be very sure of, and that you can tell any of our clients, future or present, is that we will stand by anything we say or sign we’re going to do. I don’t care if we lose money - my family’s reputation is more important than anything else.’ And in standing by its contractual obligations, the company hasn't seen litigation in 50 years.”
Miller himself has over 49 years’ experience in design and construction management, and prior to joining Shapoorji, served as regional MD for international architectural firm Kohn Pederson Fox, and as regional head for Perkins Eastman and FX Fowle.
In the UAE Shapoorji is engaged on Bloom Central, a Marriott International development in Abu Dhabi.
