Dubai Municipality is set to unveil an exciting addition to Mushrif National Park – an expansive mountain hiking trail that promises a unique outdoor experience for nature enthusiasts. Scheduled to open on June 20, the 10-kilometer trail marks the first of its kind in Dubai, offering multiple tracks suitable for both novice and experienced hikers.
With an 8.3-kilometer yellow recreational track and a 1.4-kilometer orange sports track, the trail caters to hikers of varying skill levels. Dubai Municipality took to twitter to describe it as a one-of-a-kind adventure experience, showcasing their commitment to enhancing the appeal and quality of life in the city through the development of recreational facilities and parks.
Ahmed Al Zarooni, the Director of the municipality’s Public Parks and Recreational Facilities Department, emphasized the distinctive opportunity the track presents to walking, climbing, and adventure enthusiasts.
To ensure the safety and convenience of hikers, Dubai Municipality has integrated amenities and services throughout the park. These include public restrooms, safety instructions, warning signage boards, and administrative and supervisory personnel stationed at various locations along the trail.
The hiking trail is open to visitors and hikers free of charge throughout the year, providing an opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Mushrif Park. As hikers venture along the trail, they will encounter sculptures, wooden stairways, bridges, slopes, and rest areas, all while enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and wildlife.
To maintain a secure environment, the municipality has established guidelines for hikers. These guidelines include carrying adequate water supply, wearing suitable clothing and footwear, and being equipped with necessary safety tools. It’s important to note that children between the ages of 12 and 15 must be accompanied by an adult when using the tracks.
Hikers are encouraged to follow trail etiquette, such as giving way to cyclists, walking in the designated direction, and adhering to the assigned tracks. The municipality emphasizes that activities such as cooking, smoking, camping, or staying overnight in the forest after completing the hike are prohibited.
Dubai Municipality has previously developed mountain bike tracks in Mushrif National Park, including a 50-kilometer track designed for professional mountain bikers. These tracks cater to bikers of all skill levels, with designated areas for beginners, intermediates, and professionals.
