The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared a prohibition on travel to Lebanon for citizens of the UAE, citing the prevailing situation within the country.
Emphasizing an unswerving dedication to protecting the safety and welfare of UAE nationals amid the ongoing turbulence in Lebanon, the Ministry reiterated its commitment.
To ensure the safety of its nationals, the UAE government has set up a dedicated hotline, reachable at 0097180024, to address any emergencies that might arise.
Furthermore, it is strongly recommended that citizens utilise the ‘Twajudi’ service, an initiative led by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, designed to offer essential support to Emiratis overseas.
The UAE’s action aligns with measures taken by other countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Bahrain, all of which have implemented travel restrictions to Lebanon.
These nations have collectively encouraged their citizens to exercise vigilance due to the recent confrontations within the Ain El Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp situated in the southern part of Lebanon.
Tragically, the escalating violence in the camp, which ignited on July 29, has resulted in the loss of lives, with at least 13 individuals falling victim, primarily identified as militants.
The conflict largely stems from a clash between the dominant Fatah faction and extremist hard-liners.
Ain El Hilweh, holding paramount significance among Lebanon’s 12 Palestinian camps, houses a substantial portion of the country’s Palestinian refugees – approximately 80,000 out of an estimated 250,000, as reported by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East.
