Kuwait airport terminal designer joins Perkins + Will's Dubai studio
Morgan Fleming has also worked on National Bank of Kuwait’s headquarters and the expansion of Heathrow airport's T2
In his new role, Morgan Fleming will oversee the Dubai office’s design teams and work with Perkins + Will’s clients across corporate, commercial, transportation, civic, and social project teams.
Perkins + Will said Fleming has a decade’s worth of experience in the Mena region, and in addition to his work at the Kuwaiti airport, he has also previously been involved with National Bank of Kuwait’s headquarters tower – one of Kuwait's famous architecture projects over the years.
International projects in Fleming’s portfolio include the expansion of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol’s Pier A in The Netherlands; London’s The Spire and its T2 expansion of Heathrow International Airport; Waldorf Astoria Hotel and Residences in San Francisco, as part of California’s Oceanwide Centre; and the HS1 Vision Plan for California High-Speed Rail Authority in Sacramento.
Fleming is a member of American Institute of Architects and holds an MSc degree in advanced architectural design from Columbia University’s School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation.
Commenting on his appointment, Fleming said: “I’ve always had a unique appreciation of, and affinity for, the design culture of this region – to me, it reflects the cherished balance of two distinct values: the preservation of history and cultural heritage, and the celebration of urban modernity in an increasingly global economy.
“I’m honoured to be able to help our clients here maintain that important balance through intelligent design and architecture.”
Interim managing director of Perkins + Will’s Dubai studio, Richard Marshall, added: “Fleming brings to our studio and our clients the right mix of international and regional experience, enthusiasm, and expertise.
“From design to on-site construction management, he understands every aspect of our business, both here and abroad, and he has a proven track record of successful project outcomes.”
