Saint Helier, Jersey-headquartered Petrofac announced it had appointed former Kuwait National Petroleum Company chief executive officer, Mohammed Ghazi Al-Mutairi, as its country chair in Kuwait.
Al-Mutairi’s experience includes serving as chairman of Gulf Downstream Association, and his role as in-country ambassador at Petrofac will see him representing the engineering, procurement, and construction company's interests in the Arab country, as well as expanding its local operations.
Petrofac said Al-Mutairi holds a BSc in chemical engineering from Kuwait University, adding that his hiring reflected the company’s commitment to“developing Kuwait’s oil and gas infrastructure and the increased demand the company sees with helping clients expand their upstream and downstream operations”.
Commenting on the appointment, Roberto Bertocco, chief commercial officer of Petrofac, said: “We are delighted to welcome Mohammed to Petrofac.
"He has played an important role in shaping Kuwait’s downstream sector, leading the implementation of some of the region’s most complex energy projects.
"This is a key market where our continued focus is on investing in-country and building capabilities for the future to ensure we’re part of the fabric of Kuwait for many years to come.”
