Global role added for Ramboll Middle East CEO Richard Beard
Richard Beard will be responsible for the Danish consultancy’s largest business area as global director of its buildings division
Danish construction consultancy Ramboll has appointed 2019 Construction Week Power 100 entrant Richard Beard as global director of its buildings division – its largest business area that has worked on projects such as Denmark's tallest residential building, Lighthouse at the port of Aarhus, New Zealand's Auckland airport, and Sweden's largest hospital, Karolinska University – with Beard set to continue in his current role as chief executive officer of Ramboll's Middle East and Asia Pacific division.
Beard has more than 30 years of experience in the consulting engineering industry and will continue the “internationalisation” of Ramboll's buildings business.
Ramboll identifies high-rises, hospitals, and aviation projects as key areas for its buildings division to grow, which will be a major focus for Beard. He will also focus on sustainability targets as Ramboll plans to double its revenue from sustainable buildings by 2020.
Commenting on the promotion, Beard said: “Being a global consultancy, this provides great opportunities and advantages on the international scene, when we can draw upon competencies throughout the world.
“Almost 40% of all CO2 emissions worldwide stem directly or indirectly from buildings. We can and must do something about this for the sake of society.
"Our attention is strongly directed at sustainable buildings in the future – both in terms of reducing carbon emissions and thus the negative environmental impact of buildings as much as possible, from construction to operation to demolition.”
