Acwa Power's Yasser Yaqub joins DWF as banking & finance partner
Yaqub has previously advised on large-scale infrastructure projects including in power and water sector
Manchester-headquartered law firm DWF has appointed Yasser Yaqub — a former staffer at Saudi Arabia’s Acwa Power — as a partner to its Dubai banking and finance practice with a focus on project finance.
In his new role, Yaqub will be responsible for building the finance practice regionally with a focus on project finance mandates, and will be based at the firm's Dubai office.
Yaqub has previously worked as a partner at Chadbourne Parke, and set up an internal finance legal team at Acwa Power.
With experience in export credit agency, multilateral agency lending, and Islamic finance, Yaqub had advised on large-scale infrastructure projects in the the power and water sector.
He also has experience working within various geographies including GCC and wider region.
Commenting on Yaqub’s appointment, head of banking & finance for the Middle East and global head of Islamic finance at DWF, Umera Ali, said: "Yasser's excellent credentials and his extensive experience further enhances DWF's credibility and market reputation, and is part of our regional growth strategy.
