Samsung Engineering has appointed Michel Lainé as chief operating officer of its newly established offshore division.
Samsung Engineering acquisition of top talent for its team supplements its move to break into the offshore market for wellheads, large-scale production platforms, topsides, FPSOs and FLNGs.
Lainé’s career in offshore began in 1982 with the UK’s ETPM, followed by Technip and Bouygues Offshore S.A., which was then acquired by Saipem.
Since 2002, Lainé has held several key positions at Saipem such as managing director for Indonesia and Singapore, and chairman and CEO for France.
Lainé has a BA in civil eng. at Ecole Spéciale des Travaux Publics, an MA in civil works at University Paul Sabatier, and a diploma in steel structure engineering at Centre des Hautes Etudes de la Construction.
