Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has appointed Yousif Juma Mubarak as manager for workshop and maintenance services, more than two decades after he began his career at the Bahrain-based smelter.
Alba confirmed the appointment in a statement on Sunday, with Mubarak moving from his role as superintendent of mechanical maintenance, which he was appointed to in 2016.
He began his career at Alba in 1995 as an apprentice in the workshop and maintenance services team, and 11 years later, was appointed as the vehicle maintenance supervisor.
In 2014, Mubarak was made senior supervisor for vehicle maintenance and reliability at Alba.

Mubarak holds a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Hindustan University in India.
Commenting on the appointment, Tim Murray, chief executive officer of Alba, said: “Yousif’s appointment reflects Alba’s commitment to develop Bahraini nationals from within into key leadership positions in the company.”

Alba is set to become the largest single-site aluminium smelter in the world upon completion of its Line 6 project, expected to start production activities in Q1 2019.
