ADM’s VR virtualization initiative focuses on construction safety
Municipality’s VR and e-learning initiatives were seen at Abu Dhabi Ports’ Occupational Health Week
Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) is raising awareness around the risks in the construction sector, management of constructions sites, health and safety in the industry, methods to develop performance and avoid accidents, and improve the working environment in the UAE capital’s construction industry through its Virtualization VR initiative, which it showed at the Abu Dhabi Ports’ Occupational Health Week event under the theme “Together for a Bright Future”.
The government entity provided a VR simulation of hazardous work that result in injuries by creating an accident environment on a virtual platform.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality also focused on the need to reduce the level of high-risk work through the development of scientific construction methods, and called for improvement in the working conditions at construction sites, especially with regard to occupational health and safety.
The municipality has called for stakeholders to provide a healthy and safe area for pedestrians around construction sites, in addition to ensuring that adjacent buildings are not affected.
The entity has also launched an e-learning initiative – an electronic system of distance learning that provides training courses on environment, health, and safety – which will enhance employees' awareness, create an energy-efficient management system, and provide appropriate training conditions and continuous training opportunities to those who do not have access to specialized courses.
This initiative provides an accessible database, as well as statistics, for continuous review and improvement, in addition to reducing the time and money spent in the training process.
