September launch for One Moto's e-motorcycles in Dubai
Start-up's Electa and Byka motorcycles, designed in the UAE, can operate for 120-150km per charge
Dubai-based start-up One Moto will bring its range of UAE-designed electric motorcycles, including Electa and Byka, to the city this September, with the two-wheelers expected to result in savings of nearly $7,000 (AED25,712.8) each year for delivery drivers.
Chief executive officer of One Moto, Adam Ridgway told Construction Week’s sister title Arabian Business that Electa and Byka would respectively cost $$4,479 (AED16,450) and $4,000 (AED14,950).
Ridgway added that the Byka range had been designed for the delivery market and would be a "game-changer” for the sector, while Electa was inspired from Vespa scooters.
One Moto’s electric motorcycles can run for 120-150km per charge and deliver high-power output for a quick acceleration and speed of 86km/h.
The full charging session takes between four and six hours, and the vehicle can be charged up to 80% in one hour.
Commenting on One Moto's future plans, Ridgway said: “We truly believe that with the right support, belief, and a little luck, we will be able to completely eradicate the need for petrol delivery bikes in the UAE within three years, and across the Mena and Apac regions in five years.”
