Tadweer deploys smart tech to track waste contractors in Abu Dhabi
Smart facility opened to centrally control and monitor waste collection process and issue performance reports
Abu Dhabi Centre of Waste Management (Tadweer) has launched a smart facility to centrally control and monitor the performance of private environmental contractors tasked with the collection and transportation of waste in Abu Dhabi; electronically track waste transport vehicles; and issue performance reports based on periodic assessments.
Tadweer provides 51 services in Abu Dhabi, including 27 activities related to cleaning, the collection and transportation of waste, and the sweeping of road, residential, commercial, and industrial areas in the emirate.
Tadweer’s launch event was attended by Abu Dhabi Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities’ undersecretary, Mubarak Obaid Al Dhaheri; Tadweer’s general manager, Dr Salem Al Kaabi; and other senior officials from Tadweer, according to UAE state news agency, Wam.
Commenting on the centre’s launch, Al Dhaheri said: “The opening of the new control centre aligns with the directive of the Abu Dhabi government to leverage the latest technologies to provide high-quality services to the community.
“Technology integration is key to the development of the waste management sector in the emirate and to achieving its strategic plan. By using a fail-safe system that combines control and monitoring functions, this important facility seeks to improve our operating mechanisms and enhance our preparedness to address any challenges facing this vital field.”
