Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Twitter that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with telecom operator Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (Du) to provide free WiFi on public buses, marine transit modes, and at air-conditioned bus shelters in Dubai.

The MoU was signed in the presence of the chief executive officer of RTA's public transport agency, Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, and deputy CEO of telecoms at Du, Fahad Al-Hassawi, on the side-lines of Gitex Technology Week 2019, being held on 6-10 October at Dubai World Trade Centre.

Confirming that the service would be operational before Expo 2020 Dubai, Bahrozyan said: “As part of the agreement, Du is to provide WiFi UAE services free of charge for riders of Dubai buses, inter-city buses, and Expo 2020 Dubai buses. The service will also be available at 23 bus stations, 40 water transit hubs, 18 marine transport stations, and several air-conditioned bus shelters.”
