Dubai Municipality app to let Emiratis design, build villa changes
UAE citizens will be able to design and construction enhancements to their villas without visiting municipality centres
Dubai Municipality (DM) has launched a free-of-cost mobile application called 'Self Design' that will allow UAE nationals to design and construct villa enhancements on plots in Dubai’s residential areas without the need to visit municipality centres for permits, or depend on consultancies for design and engineering plans.
The application, which is an addition to the Dubai Building Permits System (Dubai BPS) application, includes three options – UAE nationals can design enhancements to their properties and get DM to complete the rest of the construction, sewage plans, and permits, or use readymade designs on the app which offers multiple options for villa enhancements with integrated models.
The third option allows senior citizens to request immediate DM services, and the municipality team will visit them at their villa site to prepare designs that suit them.
DM estimates that the mobile application will save UAE citizens more than 3,000 annual visits to its headquarters and centres.
The service is in line with the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, to develop infrastructure services that are aimed at reaching senior citizens in their homes.
Commenting on the introduction of the app, director general of DM, Dawoud Al Hajri, said: “The municipality has devised a new qualitative mobile app to obtain the design and permit for enhancements in private villas owned by nationals, which will save financial costs and a lot of time and effort, as Dubai Municipality will ensure design, permits, assistance, and support in completing construction plans.”
