Crescent Enterprises unveils Shamal, workwear for construction workers
EXCLUSIVE: Director of CE-Creates, Samer Choucair tells Construction Week the firm is creating a standard for construction wearables
On the sidelines of The Big 5, held from 25 to 28 November 2019, the intenal business incubation arm of Cresecent Enterprises has rolled out its Shamal-branded workwear for construction workers, with the director of CE-Creates, Samer Choucair having told Construction Week that the company is setting a standard for construction wearables in the region.
Speaking to Construction Week at their stand in Dubai World Trade Centre’s Za'abeel Hall, Choucair said that the company have aleady received orders from companies based in Dubai and Sharjah without revealing more details about the names of the companies.
He said: “There aren’t any garemets designed specifically for people and for this climate."
According to the company, Shamal looks to enhance safety for construction, as well as outdoor workers , who work in challenging climatic conditions.
Chouciar told Construction Week that the company has used fabric techology from Germany, the US, and South East Asia, adding that the fabric they are using come from brands such as Coolmax, 3M, as well as Cordura.
He added that the workwear will also be used at Crescent Enterprises companies as well.
“The garments have been rigorously tested in a painstaking process involving six stages of prototypes tests in the UAE. To ensure performance at the highest level, all elements of the garments were tested including fabrics and designs.
"Further testing involved mannequin simulations and onsite trials in challenging conditions. Results reported include significant reduction in garment weight and improved thermal comfort superior to any previous garment worn. These testaments are the greatest advocacy for the efficiency of our product,” Choucair added.
