Three60 Communities saves $1.3m with energy efficient initiatives
Three60 Communities saved $653,400 (AED2.4m) at a multi-use high rise community in DIFC as a result of a retrofit projects
Three60 Communities, the subsidiary of Eltizam Asset Management Group, has revealed that it has exceeded $1.3m (AED4.75m) in energy and water savings year-on-year between January and September 2019, from implementing initiatives to reduce consumption and save energy throughout its portfolio of communities.
Using a dual strategy to enhance cost savings and reduce the environmental impact, the firm took up a coordinated effort during the first nine months of 2019.
Three60 Communities worked with its FM partners to implement solutions that led to water, chilled water, and electricity usage decreasing across more than 20 different communities in the UAE.
In total, 10 locations recorded electricity reduction; nine achieved water consumption reduction; and a further four saw a decrease in chilled water usage.
The single biggest impact was witnessed in a multi-use high rise community in DIFC where a total of $653,400 (AED2.4m) was saved as a result of a retrofit projects.
Commenting on the initiatives, chief operating officer (COO) of Eltizam Asset Management Group, Mohammed Alsharaf, said: “The strategy aims to increase the contribution of clean energy in the total energy mix from 25% to 50% by 2050 and reduce the carbon footprint of power generation by 70% by the same year.”
Sharing his thoughts on energy saving measures, the general manager of Three60 Group, Alan Rowlands, said: “Lower energy use not only helps reduce our communities’ environmental footprint (by way of reducing burning of fossil fuels and resulting CO2 emissions), but directly contributes to lowering the operating costs of the communities which we manage.”
Energy conservation measures in terms of electricity include monitoring and controlling lighting use in parking and common areas with only essential lighting at night; optimising HVAC operating parameters to maintain desired air temperature by switching off fresh air handling (FAHU) units after the office hours in commercial buildings; changing the day/night temperature settings of FAHU per ambient temperature; controlling the chilled water flow by adjusting the variable-frequency drive (VFD) parameters, among others.
The Three60 Communities firm is responsible for running more than 115 premium communities across the UAE and the Sultanate of Oman.
