Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is preparing for the launch of eParking tickets, which will provide an additional solution to pay parking fees in Dubai.

The project will include upgraded parking meters fitted with interactive touch screens that enable users to enter vehicle details and have eParking tickets issued.

The eParking tickets will be an alternative to the existing mParking, which involves sending of text messages via mobile phones.

The procedure will eliminate the need to display paper tickets on the windscreens of vehicles. It is part of the RTA’s efforts to develop services compatible with Dubai’s Smart City initiative and the Dubai Paperless Strategy.

The project has begun its implementation stage following the analysis of public polls conducted during the pilot run of improved parking meters.

The parking meters will be installed over several phases starting from Q1 2020 till the end of 2022.

The project is also part of the Parking Department’s smart transformation aimed at meeting the needs of road users in line with RTA’s strategic goals of ‘Smart Dubai and People Happiness’.

It also eliminates offences resulting from the improper display of parking tickets, besides enabling the payment of parking fees for motorbikes.
