UK's RMD Kwikform launches 400kN modular propping system
The system has been launched across RMD Kwikform's global network, and has proven to be an efficient solution
UK-headquartered formwork, falsework, and ground shoring solutions supplier RMD Kwikform, has launched Tetrashor - a lightweight modular propping system that can deliver a loading capacity of up to 400kN - across its global network.
The system has been designed for building refurbishment and civil engineering markets, finding applications in dead shoring, façade retention, propping and needling, supporting precast concrete bridge beams and structural steelwork frames, as well as restraining tall single and double-sided formwork.
The system's 400kN loading capacity calls for minimal requirement of props, facilitating cost, and assemblage time reduction for contractors. When used as a group of four, the prop can facilitate heavy, concentrated loads by creating a 'tower', providing a loading capacity of up to 1600kN.
Tetrashor's lightweight properties — 30kg/m — allows it to be easily carried about by workers, eliminating the use of a crane and delivering an ideal strength-to-weight ratio.
The system can be used horizontally, vertically, and in an inclined position.
Other distinctive features include hydraulic jacking options as well as ‘KwikStrike’, a load release mechanism, that enables workers to release loads in a quick and controlled manner, with only two or three hits from a hammer.
Speaking about the product, chief engineer for Middle East and India at RMD Kwikform, Wassim Daher, said: “When superior prop strength is a key requirement, the compromise is generally a heavier system that is more difficult to manoeuvre. Conversely, lightweight but less strong systems often require more materials to meet loading capacities, adding to erection times and costs."
Daher added: “However, Tetrashor provides a safe, cost-effective and efficient solution, helping to overcome common industry challenges by supporting heavy loads, while also improving productivity. Tetrashor is available in five different prop variants to suit most applications."
