Muscat Municipality health teams have begun a preventive spraying campaign as part of precautionary and preventive measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19).

The director general of health affairs at the Muscat Municipality, Qais bin Suleiman Al-Koshari, said that this campaign is being carried out in conjunction with other municipalities, including multiple areas in the Muscat Governorate.

The spraying focused on the internal road pavements in residential and commercial neighbourhoods, various public utility spaces, and passenger stations, in addition to taxi parking lots and in front of shops.

The municipality campaign will run for a week between 7pm and 7am each day, according to the state-run Oman News Agency.

The campaign will also train owners of commercial construction sites in the Muscat governorate to spray and sterilise their facilities to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
