Bolsa de Madrid-listed global sustainable infrastructure solutions provider ACCIONA has rolled out its latest intelligent cloud-based data platform — Business Intelligence Of Network Solutions (BIONS) — which integrates data to help with water supply management.

BIONS is a  platform with a graphic and mobile interface that displays the water distribution network data in real time.

The cloud-data platform uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies, detect, analyse, and manage failures or incidents in the water supply network including leaks, breaks or faulty assets, in addition to predicting, when are these issues likely to happen.

Speaking about the platform ACCIONA’s operations & maintenance Middle East Director for water solutions, Julio Ratia, said: “Gulf countries have the lowest per capita renewable freshwater resources in the world, and these are declining rapidly due to population growth.

"Leaks in the water network are a real challenge in a region that cannot afford to lose water. BIONS can definitely help to improve the efficiency and sustainability of water systems.”

When integrated with ACCIONA´s proprietary software called, GOTA, the data platform increases the  efficiency of the operations and maintenance (O&M) of the network, with shorter cycles of repair and incident resolution.

Meanwhile, ACCIONA Middle East’s business director for water solutions, Julio de la Rosa, said: “The technology allows us to know ahead of time what to expect and what will be requested by the plant, allowing us to quickly define the most optimal operational decisions and obtain the most efficient and sustainable output from the facility.”
