Dubai's ICD Brookfield Place bags LEED Platinum certification
Designed by Foster + Partners the super-structure is the tallest & largest office building in EMEA to get the recognition
ICD Brookefield Place, developed by ICD Brookfield, a joint venture between the Dubai Government’s principal investment arm Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) and commercial real estate company Brookfield Property Partners, has won the LEED Platinum (leadership in energy and environmental design) certificate.
The highest rating awarded by the US Green Building Council for green building design, construction, operations, and performance, following the certification the G+53-storey super-structure becomes the tallest and largest office building in the EMEA region to achieve the ranking.
Now the building, designed by Foster + Partners, stands among the top 20 of the world’s largest off
In accomplishing LEED® Platinum, ICD Brookfield Place becomes the tallest and largest office building in the EMEA region to achieve the rating, and takes its place among the top 20 of the world’s largest LEED® Platinum projects.
ICD Brookfield Place is a 102,193.3m2 office and retail complex featuring 91,974m2 of workspace alongside 14,864m2 of retail and dining area. Brookfield Properties is developing and managing the property.
LEED is a globally recognised symbol of excellence in green building and ensures electricity cost savings, lower carbon emissions, and healthier environments where people live, learn and work.
The certification marks an important milestone for the 53-storey office and retail destination, which recently completed its practical completion and with imminent plans to open it to its tenants.
Speaking about the achievement, CEO of ICD Brookfield, Rob Devereux, said: “By reducing our impact on the environment, we are setting a new benchmark for healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving buildings in the region.”
Brewer Smith Brewer Group (BSBG) is the lead consultancy, executive architecture and interior design, and construction supervision firm for the project.
Meanwhile, AESG has been appointed as the sustainable design consultancy, energy consultancy and energy simulation, daylight simulation and analysis, LEED Gold consultancy, and independent commissioning agent for the development.
