Oman's Diam awards OIFC billing, water connection contract
Year-long contract to Oman Investment Finance Co includes disconnection and reconnection works
Oman’s Public Water Authority (Diam) has picked Muscat Securities Market-listed Oman Investment Finance Company (OIFC) to deliver billing services, including disconnection and reconnection activities, as part of its debt collection requirements.
The OIFC contract covers Majan Electricity Company areas, and Zone 3 of the Muscat governorate's wilayat of Seeb.
In a stock market missive, OIFC said that the contract would be effective from 1 July, 2019 to 30 June, 2020, and that it expected to earn “reasonable profits” out of the project.
Earlier this year, Diam awarded Omani construction and engineering giant Galfar Engineering & Contracting a $77.8m (OMR26.9m) contract to build water networks in Al Hamra and Bilad Sait, both of which are located in Oman’s northeastern governate of Al Dakhiliyah.
Galfar is due to complete the project in 993 days, which includes 90 days for commissioning, and 60 days for mobilisation, effective “from receipt of the engineer’s instruction”.
