Oman ministry mandates energy efficiency labels for air conditioners
Starting 25 July, stickers will have to be pasted on devices to provide information about window and split ACs' energy intake
Oman’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) has rolled out an energy-efficiency sticker that should be pasted on every air-conditioning unit in the country from 25 July, with the move aimed at curtailing energy consumption in the sultanate.
The sticker will educate customers about the power consumption of the appliance and help customers compare it with other devices' intake.
Director-general of standards and metrology at MOCI, Khamis bin Abdulrahman al Farsi, said that a number of energy-efficiency labels had already been issued to companies in Oman.

“The [label] helps choose the best equipment, giving importance to criteria such as less consumption of electricity, high-quality performance, and a long life,” added Al Farsi.
In a statement, the ministry official added that the label would be placed on window and and spilt ACs.
