ITC to add 40 buses before Abu Dhabi road toll starts on 15 Oct
Due to be rolled out on 11 October, the 40 new bus services, part of a $129m programme, will add 147 trips to the capital
Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) will roll out 40 new bus services across the UAE capital on 11 October, 2019 – four days before the implementation of the toll gate system kicks off in Abu Dhabi on 15 October – to meet traveller demand during peak hours and in line with its plans to purchase 327 buses for Abu Dhabi through a $128.7m (AED473m) programme.
The buses will be equipped with smart systems for payment and route tracking, as well as facilities to support People of Determination, in addition to CCTV cameras.
Commenting on the addition of bus services, ITC’s operations director for the public transport sector, Ateeq Mohammed Al Mazrouei, said: “ITC will increase the number of daily services offered as 147 bus trips will be added to the bus network on the main bridges connecting to Abu Dhabi Island.
"Of these additional bus trips, 124 were added during peak hours which will make travelling by public transport easier.
“The new buses support ITC’s plan to enhance the public transport service network just before the implementation of the toll gate system in Abu Dhabi on 15 October.”
