Offering flexibility within your FM operation is essential for success, says Malay Shroff, chief operations officer, Hitches and Glitches.
The company was recently awarded a contract through the Ministry of Education for the maintainence of 100 schools in the northern emirates. In an exclusive interview with fmME Shroff said the ability to work unsociable hours was crucial to the $2m contract win.
“[Though] a challenge, [we have to be] able to align ourselves with the school times and holidays. We can’t work when school is in session so we need to be flexible enough to work in afternoons and nights and finish major amounts of work during school vacations,” said Shroff.
Of equal importance is the ability to rapidly respond to emergencies. Hitches and Glitches had to cater specifically for this project, boosting manpower and increasing its fleet of vehicles.
“We have put in place complete electronic mapping so it’s easier to spot the destination we need to attend. Additionally, we will strategically station mobile workshop vans to optimise the response time,” said Shroff.
The company has completed the first stage of the project and is in the process of deploying further staff and vehicles for the second phase.
