Nordeon Group has revealed its intention to establish a UAE production facility for the Middle East.
The European-headquartered lighting firm, which was established in 2012, says that such a facility will enable it to significantly reduce its lead times for the region.
Although plans have not yet been finalised, Jim Ashley-Down, sales director for the UK and Ireland, says that he expects the site to be completed within approximately two years.
“[Although] we don’t have any definite plans right now, we’re looking at around a two-year period,” he explains. “What we’re hoping to achieve in regards to the Middle East market, is to deliver products faster. Obviously, one of the problems of getting kit here from Germany, France, or any of our other production facilities, is the amount of time it takes.”
Ashley-Down made the comments during a presentation at LightingTech Qatar 2015, which is currently taking place in conjunction with Project Qatar 2015. He contends that the move is in keeping with Nordeon Group’s philosophy of getting closer to its international customers.
“We’re already a global company in the scope of our operations; our projects are worldwide. We’re just trying to have a more local presence, in terms of [our Middle Eastern capabilities],” he concludes.
LightingTech Qatar 2015 is currently taking place at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC). The conference will continue until this afternoon.
