Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) has launched a waste management campaign at its Dubai-based smelter.
The month-long awareness scheme will be enacted to ensure employees at the Taweelah site understand methods of reducing waste in their offices and operational areas.
“EMAL’s strategy for waste management is based on the five R principles of reduction, reuse, recycling, resource recovery and responsible disposal. Of the five, the primary focus is reducing the amount of waste we create in the first place. If we do that, then it stands to reason that we reduce our reliance on the other four principles,” said EMAL president and CEO Saeed Fadhel Al Mazrooei.
“Our employees are proud to be part of a company that pays close attention to the environmental impact we make, but we want them to understand that they can make an individual difference too. By changing small behaviors they too can have a positive impact on the environment.”
The campaign began on June 5 in line with World Environment Day.
