The project calls for construction of a 171 Km Kuwait Metro. The Metro will be built across the inner city of Kuwait and will include 4 lines. 60 kilometer of the metro will be built underground.
A consortium led by Dashti, along with members of Spain's Ingenieria & Consultoria de Transporte (Ineco), and the local Kuwait United Development group together carried out the feasibility study. Parsons Brinckerhoff conducted a feasibly study of roadway design and the transportation networks in Kuwait. Invitation to Bid (ITB) for the main construction contract is expected to be in 2011. The metro is expected to be completed in 2016.
The project will be financed either by putting 50 percent of a newly established company in an IPO while the government and Kuwait Overland Transport Union will retain 40 percent and 10 percent respectively.
