Chemicals company Toray Industries – one of the sponsors of Expo 2020 Dubai’s Japan Pavilion, on which ground was broken on 26 August with Obayashi Middle East as main contractor – has picked Kunihiko Morinaga, known for his 2003-founded Anrealage brand, to design the uniforms that it will supply for attendants at the Japanese- and Arabian-design inspired pavilion for the next World Expo, which will run from 20 October, 2020 to 10 April, 2021.

In a statement, Toray said its uniforms would feature “advanced materials and incorporate cultural elements from Dubai and elsewhere in the Middle East to convey the notion of connections”, underscoring Expo 2020 Dubai’s theme – ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’.

Toray added in its statement that it would showcase “materials that contribute to economic growth everywhere and a better, more sustainable planet” through its sponsorship of the Japanese pavilion.
