Five schools are expected to open in Dubai as the new academic year begins this year, with Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) stating that new educational facilities are located in Al Twar 2, Al Qusais, Jumeirah Village Triangle, Al Quoz, and Jebel Ali, adding that another three schools would open in Dubai in 2020, adding 13,000 schooling seats along the way.

Chief executive officer of KHDA’s permits and compliance sector, Mohammed Darwish, said: “The opening of eight new schools by 2020 will further strengthen Dubai’s private education sector and add to the wide variety of educational offerings available to parents.

“Dubai has seen a steady increase in the number of schools offering good or better quality education, with an increase from 38 in schools in 2008 to 119 this year.”

According to a report by UAE state news agency, Wam, 41 private schools opened in Dubai over the last three years.
