Electric vehicle manufacturing and maintenance facility planned for Sixth of October City; Ain Sokha planned as solar plant site
Electric vehicle (EV) developer Revolta Egypt will open the country’s first EV manufacturing and maintenance facility in Sixth of October, Giza, by the end of 2019, with plans also in place to fund a solar power plant alongside a Chinese company in Egypt.
According to a report by Thomson Reuters, Revolta will collaborate with engineering firm Eco Factory for the EV charging station facility, which will be spread across 1ha of land.
The plant will manufacture all the charging stations needed for EVs across the country, according to Revolta Egypt’s head of business development and board member, Ezz El Din Ibrahim.
The company is also eyeing the development of a solar power plant in Egypt.
“Revolta plans to install a 5MW solar plant in Egypt’s Ain Sokhna, in cooperation with a Chinese company,” Ibrahim said.
The firm plans to secure $6m funding from EFG Hermes, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and other international financial institutions interested in green energy projects.
Ibrahim said: “To date, we have established 25 charging points in Shell-authorised retailers and distribution centres, and we plan to reach 50 charging points by end-2019.”
