Dubai Municipality completes smart sports courts near homes
Completion noted on Phase 1 of the project that includes football, basketball courts, accessible through designated cards
Dubai Municipality has completed the first phase of its project that includes the construction the family playgrounds and sports stadiums – featuring family courtyards, and football and basketball courts fitted with ‘smart’ entrance gates – in multiple residential areas in Dubai, under the directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.
Dubai Municipality has installed an electronic system at the yards’ entrances that will allow the owners of neighbouring houses to access the facilities by swiping the cards at the device provided, which will be distributed to them at the end of this month.
According to Dubai Media Office, Dubai Municipality said squares and playgrounds in residential areas were “essential elements of urban planning” and would serve to increase “social links between” residents.
Commenting on the project, Dubai Municipality’s director-general, Dawood Al Hajri, said: “We take the vision of our wise leadership to promote the principles of welfare and happiness among the community members as an approach and basis for all the projects implemented by the municipality.
“The comfort and happiness of the residents and citizens is our top priority.
"The project aims to provide all the requirements for all housing areas in Dubai to provide the residents the luxury of living, we have taken into consideration the types of games to be suitable for different ages for children, in order to preserve their health and wellness.
“In addition, we provided all the requirements for people of determination as an important element in the design of arenas and stadiums, through the selection of games that are flexible and easy to use."
