Bahrain’s Tender Board floated and awarded contracts for 14 tenders worth $11m (BHD4.1m) in August 2019, with works undersecretary at the kingdom’s Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs, and Urban Planning, Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Khayyat, revealing that nine of the 14 tenders covered roads, sanitation, construction, and maintenance projects, and were valued at $8.9m (BHD3.4m).

Bahrain's state news agency, BNA, said the remaining five tenders were valued at $2m (BHD782,760) and covered projects related to the operation of treated wastewater, as well as the maintenance of the residence of the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom at the UN in New York’s residence.

Al-Khayyat said 54 purchase demands worth $420,148 (BHD157,976) were approved in August 2019, and during the period, the works ministry approved and issued licenses for five rehabilitation applications from various sectors, rejecting four others.
