Awqaf allots $8m for mosques on road to Makkah, Madinah
General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments to support the development, restoration, and reconstruction of 16 mosques
Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (Awqaf) has signed a partnership agreement with Association for the Care of Road Mosques in the presence of the latter's honorary president, HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, and the kingdom’s Minister of Labour and Social Development, Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Rajhi, to provide $8m (SAR30m) for the restoration, reconstruction, and development of 16 mosques on the road to Makkah and Madinah.
The authority's support for the project comes as the first endowment fund for mosques approved by Awqaf and licensed by Saudi Arabia's Capital Markets Authority.
The fund aims to enhance the development role of endowments through participating in the support and development of road mosques, Saudi Press Agency reported.
This project is in line with the kingdom’s Vision 2030 goal to better serve visitors to the Two Holy Mosques.
