ISG wins contract for UOWD's new campus in Dubai Knowledge Park
Fit-out giant will mobilise onsite in October 2019 and is expected to complete its work on the scheme by mid-2020
UK-headquartered contractor ISG has won a fit-out contract for the new campus of University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD), with the six-floor structure in Dubai Knowledge Park due to open in September 2020 ahead of Expo 2020 Dubai.
The building's interiors have been designed by Woods Bagot and project management services are being delivered out by Abu Dhabi-based consultancy Alexander Mac.
ISG’s scope of work for the 1.9ha campus — on which ground was broken in February 2017 — includes design validation, completion of the base build, and fit-out of the entire structure from a shell and core finish.
Additionally, the company will also deliver infrastructure services for complex’s IT systems and data rooms, and manage service providers and supply chain partners for the project.
According to information published on the university’s website, structural works have been completed for the project, while blockwork is being carried out on the sixth floor, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work is progressing from the ground to the fifth floor.
Commenting on the contract, general manager of ISG Middle East, Scott McCulloch, said “We are delighted to be working alongside such a forward-thinking organisation to deliver its campus of the future and give its students quality space that fosters creativity and innovation, and allows them to thrive.”
Bid manager at ISG Middle East, Saeed Rehman said that ISG would use building information modelling (BIM) systems to manage workflows for the project.
In a statement, ISG said that it was expected to mobilise onsite in October 2019 and complete handover by mid-2020.
ISG will deploy a team of 15 technical and support personnel to deliver the scheme.
