With less than a year to go, as Expo 2020 Dubai Expo’s open’s its door on 20 October 2020, Germany has revealed that its Campus Germany-themed 4,600m2, three-storey pavilion will be topped out in March 2020, with construction work on the structure designed by Lava Architekten having begun in April 2019.

Located within the World Expo’s Sustainability District, the German pavilion will be organised and run by the one of the country’s largest trade fair organisers, Koelnmesse, on behalf of the country’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The pavilion, which will be located close to host nation UAE's falcon-inspired structure, will be built on a budget of $56.5m.

Speaking about the progress being made on the pavilion, commissioner general of the German Pavilion, Dietmar Schmitz said: “The project has been running smoothly. Construction is going exceedingly well and we’re right on schedule.”

Schmitz added: “The exhibition design promises great things. Campus Germany will be a fascinating and unforgettable experience for all our visitors. The exhibits are unique and their interactive character will create an entertaining visitor journey with a few surprises along the way.”

Frankfurt-based agency Voss+Fischer has been picked to develop the cultural programme and tasked with the selection of artists for the pavilion, construction work on which is being carried out by Nussli Adunic.

According to Schmitz, the shell of the three-storey structure is also scheduled to be completed by March 2020.
