The board of management of the UAE's Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (Fanr) convened its meeting at the site of Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Abu Dhabi's Al Dhafra region, where it reviewed the progress of its operational activities and discussed a number of initiatives planned for 2019.

The board was updated about Fanr's ongoing review of the operating license application for Units 1 and 2 of Barakah, in addition to inspection activities to ensure implementation of Fanr’s safety, security and safeguards requirements.

Fanr is currently at the final stage of the application review, a key priority to ensure that Barakah meets all regulatory requirements.

Board members also met with Nawah Energy Company's management team to discuss the plant's progress with the nuclear operator, UAE state news agency, Wam, reported.
