Abu Dhabi's Al Qana announces capital's largest cinema screen
Cinemacity Al Qana will have 15 cinema screens, including a 26m-wide screen, and is set to open in 2020
Abu Dhabi’s waterfront destination Al Qana, being developed by Al Barakah International Investment, announced that it will host the world’s first Cinemacity ‘CityMax’ theatre, including the UAE capital’s largest 26m-wide customised premium large format (PLF) screen, when the Cinemacity Al Qana opens in 2020.
The entertainment hub will offer 15 screens and will seat over 2,000 people simultaneously across all theatres, including 386 people at the largest screen that will feature a dual RGB laser projector and Dolby ATMOS surround sound.
The announcement was made during a signing ceremony at the Al Qana site in the presence of Fouad Mashal, chief executive officer of Al Barakah International Investment; Hammad Atassi, CEO of operator Xclusive Cinemas (Holding) and general manager of Cinemacity Al Qana; and Stuart Gissing, general manager of Al Qana.
Commenting on the features of the Cinemacity Al Qana, Atassi said: “We will also have a high-end VIP Cinema level, exclusive in its offerings to elite cinemagoers of the Emirate, with a Presidential cinema that provides world-class sophistication, design, and audio-visual offering. Once you watch a movie here, you won’t want to do it anywhere else. Cinemacity Al Qana will become the favourite place for the emirate’s cinemagoers.”
The hub will also have a dedicated Kids Cinema with a private kids’ lounge.
