Sharjah's Shurooq to highlight key projects at WTM 2019 in London
Shurooq’s destinations have been responsible for more than 1.7m tourists spending $172.3m (AED633m) in Sharjah in 2018
The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) will show the Sharjah Collection – a selection of its projects and eco-destinations, including the Kingfisher Lodge at Al Qurm Nature Reserve in Kalba; the Al Faya Lodge in the desert landscape of Mleiha; and the Al Badayer Oasis overlooking the sand dunes of central Sharjah – at the World Travel Market 2019 (WTM 2019) to be held on 4-6 November, in London.
According to state news agency, Wam, the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) said that Shurooq’s destinations have been responsible for more than 1.7m tourists spending $172.3m (AED633m) in the emirate in 2018.
Investors at the WTM 2019 will also be introduced to other offerings such as the Al Noor Island; the Mleiha Archaeological and Eco-Tourism project; the Al Bait Hotel in the Heart of Sharjah by GHM hotels; and Al Montazah Parks, a family entertainment and adventure destination in Sharjah.
Commenting on the highlights at WTM 2019, chief operating officer at Shurooq, Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, said: “Through the diversified portfolio of tourism and leisure projects we are showcasing at WTM 2019 in London, Shurooq aims to highlight its emphasis on sustainable tourism development, promote responsible tourism, and underscore the potential of ecotourism in conservation of natural and cultural heritage."
