Dubai’s Sustainable City reveals 32km2 rehab centre worth $54.5m
Sanad Village will be the world’s first and largest rehabilitation and education centre for People of Determination
Dubai’s Sustainable City has unveiled plans for Sanad Village, the world’s first and largest rehabilitation and education centre for People of Determination, which will be built on a total area of 32km2 with a construction area of 19km2 at construction costs of more than $54.5m (AED200m).
Sanad Village employs 320 highly trained and qualified professionals from around the world, who will take care of 395 People of Determination.
According to state news agency, Wam, details about the rehabilitation centre will be announced during the Sustainable City's participation in the AccessAbilities Expo, which will held on 5-7 November at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (Dicec).
The rehabilitation centre will offer services in applied behavioural analysis therapy; speech therapy; physiotherapy; occupational therapy; vocational training; and life skills training.
As an extension of services provided, a team of experts specialised in organising workshops and educational classes will train families and members of the community on how to take care of People of Determination.
Commenting on the new project, founder and chief executive officer of Diamond Developers – the developer of the Sustainable City in Dubai, Faris Saeed, said: “Through Sanad Village, we want to assure that the Sustainable City continues with its plans to evolve into a complete society that provides the UAE and the world with innovative ideas, not only on different aspects of sustainability, but also the initiatives and projects that target all segments of a society and its different needs.”
