Etihad Esco to install rooftop solar PV System at BITS Pilani Dubai
Project taken up by the Dewa subsidiary is expected to generate 750,000 kWh of green energy per year
Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad Esco), which is a fully owned subsidiary of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), announced that it has inked an agreement with the BITS Pilani Dubai campus for the installation of a rooftop solar PV system, which upon completion is expected to generate 750,000 kWh of green energy per year for the campus.
The agreement was signed by the chief executive officer of Etihad Esco, Ali Al Jassim; director of the BITS Pilani Dubai campus, Ranendra N Saha; and general manager of the BITS Pilani Dubai campus, Krishna Kumar Singh.
Commenting on the agreement, Al Jassim said: “At Etihad Esco, we remain keen to serve educational institutions as we attach great importance to setting the right examples for the future generation. The implementation of the solar project for BITS Pilani campus in Dubai will not only help us add value to the efforts aimed at generating green energy, but will also encourage other universities in the region to contribute to energy savings and become advocates for the promotion of renewable energy.”
Etihad Esco aims to create a viable performance contracting market for energy service companies by auditing and proposing energy conservation measures to major building contractors/developers, bringing Dubai closer to the achievement of its sustainability goals.
