The world’s largest district cooling service provider Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has begun construction on its new $76.2m (AED280m) headquarters in Al Jaddaf, Dubai, which will be completed in Q1 2021.

The total built up area of the new headquarters will be 67.82km2, of which 51.56km2 will be allocated to its office building, and 16.25km2 will comprise a residential building containing facilities, services, and shops.

Both the office building and the residential building will consist of 10 floors, and will have three-storeys dedicated to underground parking, as well as shops. The office building includes staff offices and shops, while the residential building consists of social amenities, restaurants, and green areas for residents and employees.

Empower confirmed that the headquarters will be built according to the LEED Gold Certification from the US Green Building Council, which is internationally recognised to assess the design, construction, and operation of environmentally-friendly and high performance buildings.

The buildings will be accessible from Al Khail Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

Commenting on the construction of the new headquarters, chief executive of Empower, Ahmad Bin Shafar, said: “Design, construction, and operation of environmentally-friendly and high-performance buildings have been taken into consideration in the designing of both the buildings, to support the preservation of the environment, combat climate change, and support national and global sustainability standards.”
