ISG completes engineering, fit-out works for Abu Dhabi Youth Hub
UK firm provided systems & networks upgrades, project planning, management, site inspection, testing, and HSE services
UK-headquartered contractor, ISG has completed engineering and fit-out works for the Abu Dhabid Youth Hub — claiming to be the largest youth centre in the UAE — with the building being spread across an area covering 4,500m2.
The facility was inaugurated by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Located at the Abu Dhabi Corniche, the building was originally built for an F1 club in 2009, and for nearly 10 years it had been vacant. Designed by Emirati youth, the facility features a theatre, music room, functional areas that can be used for conferences, meetings, as well as events.
Under its scope of work, ISG provided systems and networks upgrades, project planning and management, site inspection and testing services and health, safety and environmental management to Federal Youth Authority for the project.
Additionally, ISG also delivered fit-out package, which has been inspired by the unique design of the building exterior.
Commenting on the project, general manager of ISG Middle East, Scott McCulloch, said: “This is a unique project for ISG due to the striking design of the building and the requirement to incorporate bespoke design elements, many of which needed to be created on site. The success of the project has been down to strong collaboration with our client’s representatives, who were highly supportive and understanding of the design process and construction challenges.”
“Surveying and updating the existing building services to comply with all current standards not only demonstrates the sustainable credentials of the project, but also aided the ambitious delivery programme."
In October 2019, ISG won a fit-out contract for the new campus of University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD), which is scheduled to open in in September 2020 ahead of Expo 2020 Dubai.
