Falcon Aviation, Italy's Leonardo to open rotorcraft terminal in Dubai
Recyclable materials to be used to build the modular structure that is set to open near Expo 2020 Dubai site in 2020
Italy’s Leonardo, and UAE's Falcon Aviation Services have revealed plans to open a rotorcraft terminal in Dubai in 2020, with the facility set to be housed close to the Expo 2020 Dubai site, which is located within Dubai South.
In a statement the Italian firm said that the facility will include a helipad, showroom, and lounge areas. The facility will be constructed using recyclable materials with an environment-friendly design and will be a modular structure that could be transported.
Speaking about the terminal chief executive officer of Leonardo and Falcon Aviation Services, Alessandro Profumo, said: “This one of a kind initiative demonstrates that Leonardo, together with its long-established leading partners, is shaping the way we will fly in the next few decades.
Falcon Aviation Services will use the terminal to deliver helicopter transport services.
Commenting on the facility, HH Sheikha Alyazia Bint Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, chairperson of the executive managing committee at Falcon Aviation, said: “We’re very excited to be working with Leonardo on this groundbreaking development in sustainable air mobility in Dubai to provide a never-before-seen level of transport service to millions of visitors during the World’s Greatest Show.”
